With the fast paced advancement of Information and communications technology, the mobile phone use has shown a significant increase. Mobile phones are no longer limited to voice communications and now they provide a wide range of value added services in line with diverse needs of the users. MAGFA, in the pursuit of its mission to rehabilitate national industries by disseminating IT and communications applications, has considered Short Messaging Systems (SMS) as one of its main focus areas in providing value added services.
MAGFA and SMS Services
MAGFA’s Communication Systems Department utilizes the best international indicators to provide a highly secure environment and uses diverse messaging solutions to place itself in a unique position in terms of the product, technology and specialized knowledge. Using its self-developed and advanced SMS Engine with the ability to process more than 1,000 messages per second and the opportunity to connect to the SMS centers of the Mobile Communications Company (MCI) as the main operator of mobile phone systems in Iran as well as Irancell Company’s SMS Centers as the second operator of mobile phones along with other local and International mobile operators, MAGFA utilizes the SMPP protocol in order to provide the necessary infrastructures for presenting high quality services in this area.
MAGFA Value Added and Bulk Messaging services and solutions
Web Based Services: MAGFA provides these services by using an intermediary software package with simple and effective performance for users. MAGFA’s web based messaging package contains services for sending short message to one or more recipients or one or more groups, sending message at a pre-designated date and time, sending daily, weekly messages and sending flash as well as congratulation messages. It also provides SMS based competitions using short messages to respond with keywords or a particular selection as well as polling services using short messages to indicate selection. Users of MAGFA web based package can use the advanced graphical interface to view all sent and received messages and control the delivery reports and status of sent messages to ensure its receipt and its reception by the mobile cell phone. The system also offers various reporting options in excel format.
Professional Solutions: In addition to ready to use web based services, the communications systems unit at MAGFA provides a wide range of professional messaging solutions including:
SMPP API: For customers requiring continuous connections and sending messages in high volumes and speeds. Via this method, user can use software available at the client side and the SMPP protocol to connect to MAGFA’s messaging system and utilize all of the services offered by the protocol for sending and receiving messages in English and Farsi as well as long and flash messages.
Web Service API: Provides the opportunity for customers to connect to MAGFA messaging using SOAP protocol through HTTP and HTTPS. Clients are able to send short messages in English, Farsi as well as long messaging and flash messages. Clients are also able to review the status of the message being sent and able to receive short messages through web service methods.
HTTP/HTTPS API: As one of the simplest methods of connecting to MAGFA, it facilitates sending of the English, Farsi and long messages while incoming messages can be received using Relay Traffic service.
Database API: This service is available through subscription to a database of messages between the client software and MAGFA messaging systems. It provides the opportunity to send and receive short messages.
Bulk SMS: MAGFA provides services regarding sending Bulk SMS based on the needs and orders of its customers. Using MAGFA’s updated and valid phone numbers databases, Bulk SMS could be sent to active mobile phones in selected cities, provinces and specified postal codes throughout the country as well as phone numbers selected by the customers.
MAGFA Mobile Applications: MAGFA’s Communication Systems Department enjoys the capability of implementing applications for mobile phones. Software developed by MAGFA is adaptable to different types of mobile phones based on different operating systems including Symbian, iPhone and Android with suitable graphical capabilities in several languages including Farsi and possibility of software updates via SMS and GRPS. A good example for MAGFA developed mobile applications is the Mobile Stock application which its SMS and GPRS versions help clients receive up-to-date stock market information and create and manage portfolios in an advanced graphical interface with a wide range of features and capabilities.
MAGFA messaging systems’ soon to be launched services:
USSD Based Services: While widening its cooperation with Iran’s Mobile operators, MAGFA is developing USSD based services and applications including Mobile Banking and welcomes local and international cooperation in this regard.
Content Management: MAGFA is developing its own content management system to provide a wide range of services based on SMS as well as GPRS and is willing to cooperate with local and international companies in this regard.
Cooperation with International Mobile Operators: MAGFA is planning to work closer with Mobile Operators and SMS carriers in the Middle East in order to boost its business and launch SMS based services and applications for residents of its neighboring countries as well as other parts of the world.
